Throughout this pandemic, Lenten season is imminent, we all new that it’s a remarkable time for us Catholics to reflect on what we really need in our lives. The three pillars of lent are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Lent is a great opportunity to show our appreciation for the sacrifices of god our father, and show that he did not die in vain. Lent allows us to grow closer to God, the church, and our families.
Nevertheless, many people nowadays tend to do nothing except of course not eating meat on Fridays, but it really is the best time to reflect and become better Catholics. Jesus Christ died on the cross so that we can all be freed from sin, and so we can all live our best lives. Lent is a distinct time where we get to develop and cherish our faith.
Lent is a time to correct our bad habits and make ourselves a little bit more in Christ’s image. It is also a time for sacrifice. During this season, we have the opportunity to sacrifice something that is meaningful to us even if it is a big or small thing. However, some of us are just forced to give or sacrifice things, some cannot even sacrifice even the small things, and it shows meaningless and barely even a sacrifice. Sometimes, we need to learn to give and sacrifice, let us challenge ourselves to get better in making sacrifices like Jesus did for us, even though our small sacrifices could never amount to gods sacrifice.
As we get closer to God during this season, we need to remember what it is all about. We lead up to Christ’s ultimate passion, and death on the cross. This is a sacrifice that can never be matched by anyone. As we begin this Lenten season we remember that Jesus taught his disciples about almsgiving, prayer, and fasting. We use his teachings to make our own sacrifices and honor him, in the way that he showed his disciples. So, let us remember that this Lent celebration is about different things you can do to become a better disciple of Christ. This season gives us another opportunity to improve and to be have an eternal relationship with God and your family.
