Learning amidst the COVID-19 pandemic is a challenging one. From the new learning style and modalities, I can say that it is really tough. Mathematical problems and solutions, researches, technologies, and other stuff will not be a surprise but surely of great interest. Education amidst the pandemic will make way of new discoveries and lots of lessons from the concept notes, activities and performance tasks that are included in the learning modules.
Even though online learning is not an unusual thing, the sudden transformation into this type of learning has posed substantial challenges including the lack of assessment and supervision of teachers, technological issues, including slow or poor internet connectivity, outdated communication devices and incompatible browsers to name a few. Assessment is vital to any type of learning either face to face or online class. However, online learning makes it more complicated as teachers have limited control over us students’. For me it is easier to understand a given topic if the teacher is personally guiding the students. Whereas, the sudden unattainability and slow internet connection is one of the toughest problems I faced. Most often, I am unable join the online meetings and have difficulty to do additional research since some modules are internet dependent that lessons including tasks are new and examples are not enough to be able to fully understand and accomplish the tasks. Without our peers and daily school routines, staying motivated is a challenging task and mind-burning for me too.
Moving on, I will continue to have the strength and willingness to learn despite the challenges I am and will be facing. I would need to adapt very quickly to the so-called new normal. On the other hand, I was able to cope-up to these challenges, by engaging and developing self-confidence and becoming more determined to learn even if the learning modalities are totally different from the usual one. Let not the pandemic be the reason to cease education but rather becomes a great motivation. Lastly, I am grateful and thankful to our teachers for their tremendous efforts in making it possible to conduct virtual class sessions. With this, education continues at the comfort and safety of each one’s homes.
I truly relate with everything you said. I hope that we can overcome the struggles we had from the 1st Quarter, so that we can do better for the next one. Anyways, great composition, and good luck for the 2nd Quarter!
