Juana Get Involved

In the past, women were often not given equal opportunity and rights because they were perceived to be vulnerable in various aspects. Some of them have suffered discrimination. Their abilities were questioned compared to men and likewise they feel they had to compete against other women in order for them to be given equal rights and opportunity in different fields.

These are just a few of what women experience and during the pandemic, the burden become even more severe. Their physical, emotional and mental well-being were also impacted in the middle of the coronavirus. Other than the challenges at home, they too faced the challenges in livelihood. Many have lost and continued to lose their jobs but these did not stop them from moving on and proving them self-worth. Their responsibilities have increased not only to their families but also to the community.

The role of women during the pandemic was very important. They do multi-tasking just so they are able to achieve the so-called work-life balance while trying to provide the basic needs of their families. They played a major role in preventing the spread of COVID-19 thereby keeping their families and communities safe.  These goes to show that women should not be perceived as weak because of their gender they too should be given due respect and accept as an individual that is unique and deserves the right for social justice for the fact that they too possess a strong character that can contribute to the good of the society.

Indeed, the pandemic has given us higher admiration towards women because they showed an impressive resilience in facing life’s challenges. We need to give them appreciation and recognize them for their very important role in making people’s lives better. Their sacrifices should not be ignored, their persistence towards building a culture of women empowerment should be valued.
