Previously on November 17, 2021, the nation celebrated the 28th National Children’s Month With the theme, “New Normal na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan,” the year’s celebration covered the myriad of issues on children’s rights to survival, development, protection, and participation in the new normal setting. This November with various activities championing children’s rights and welfare, protecting and empowering children during the Covid-19 pandemic in the new normal.

We all know that at this times, children’s are the most vulnerable ones to be infected by the ongoing virus. As a result, they are strictly prohibited to go outside and do their normal routines like playing with their friends or doing such activities to escape boredom. However, some experts say that “Children may be confined, but their rights are not!” which is somewhat precise. Even though the pandemic may affect the celebration of the National Children’s Month, the regulators continued their work in favor of the children’s right, the occasion continued to take over despite of the absence of some activities that children’s are involved in. But then again, the occasion aims to promote the protection of all children and their rights, provide practical support to parents and caregivers on how to care for children and themselves during the pandemic, as well as empowering children to protect themselves. This occurrence of the NCM will surely have a great impact to all children to practice their lives during the new normal, to stand on to unexpected problems like the COVID-19, and also to learn on how to make a change in our life during crisis. Moreover, it also managed the COVID-19 pandemic and advised on how to mitigate the negative impact they may have on children generally and in vulnerable situations.

Although the implementation of this event had truly been hard and challenging because of the ongoing pandemic, it didn’t affect the objective of the regulators to do this in favor of the children’s right. In addition, it influenced and reminded us the importance of one’s rights, that children needs their full rights despite of the problems and challenges of the pandemic that we are continuously facing.
